7:30 a.m. Air Quality Update

Posted Date: 09/20/23 (07:24 AM)

Dear WUSD Families:

This is the morning check-in regarding air quality in Windsor. As of 7 a.m., the air in Windsor is in the orange or “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” category. Orange is an AQI of 101-150. At the time of writing, the AQI in Windsor is between 110 and 130.

The guidelines from SCOE for this level state:

  • Avoid vigorous outdoor activities and consider holding recess indoors,
  • For longer activities such as athletic practice, take more breaks and do less intense activities. Consider moving indoors or rescheduling.
  • Watch for symptoms and take action as needed
  • Students with asthma should follow their asthma action plans and keep their quick-relief medicine handy

As of now, we will continue to evaluate air levels throughout the day and check forecasts, but at the moment we are not making any changes to planned lunch/recess/other activities. We will be monitoring air quality throughout the day, and we may change the plan(s) based on changing conditions. We will also notify families if there are any changes to outdoor sports or practices planned for after school.

As a reminder, WUSD follows the guidelines from the Sonoma County Office of Education which can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1R9ezfVUKLUkz-zeWHczo06beSXdRPGZQ/edit

We use https://fire.airnow.gov/ to track current smoke/air quality  levels.

If you have any questions, or concerns specific to your child and their situation, please reach out to your school site.

Sincerely,
Your District Admin Team
