Enrollment
Enroll at Cali Calmécac Language Academy
Welcome
We’re excited that you are considering Cali Calmécac Language Academy for your child.
As a high-demand charter school, we receive more applications than available spaces. Enrollment is determined through a lottery system, in accordance with charter school guidelines.
Cali Calmécac Language Academy brings together Spanish- and English-speaking students to develop bilingualism and biliteracy while promoting cross-cultural understanding and academic excellence. Students from preschool through 8th grade benefit from programs that support strong academics, positive social interaction, and personal growth.
Cali Calmécac has a separate enrollment process from the rest of Windsor Unified School District and does not offer rolling enrollment.
For the 2026–2027 school year, the enrollment window closed on April 14, 2026.
Please note that CCLA generally does not accept new students after 2nd grade, as entry into the dual immersion program becomes increasingly limited in later grades.
-
Some applicants may receive priority consideration and/or earn points based on specific criteria. These factors help determine placement priority but do not guarantee admission.
Priority Considerations
Preference is given to applicants who meet one or more of the following:
- Children of CCLA and/or Windsor Unified School District (WUSD) staff members
- Siblings of current CCLA students (brothers and sisters only)
Points:
Families may also earn up to 5 total points based on the following:
- Participation in enrollment activities (Family Information Night, grade-level video, and presentation)
- Completion of a required follow-up Google Form
- Residency within the Windsor Unified School District (WUSD)
- Children of CCLA and/or WUSD staff members
- Siblings of current CCLA students (including former CCLA preschool students)
⚠️ Important: Even with 5 points, admission is not guaranteed.
-
To support a balanced dual-language program, all applicants are placed into language groups:
- English Speakers
- Bilingual Speakers
- Spanish Speakers
This structure helps maintain an equitable and effective language learning environment for all students.
-
Once applicants are placed into their appropriate language bucket:
- Students are considered within their assigned group
- If applications exceed available space, a random lottery is conducted within each bucket
- Students are selected based on available seats in each group
Important Enrollment Information:
- Enrollment is not first-come, first-served
- The process includes both priority considerations, points, and a lottery system
- Placement depends on eligibility, language group, and available space
- Preschool enrollment is separate from TK–8 enrollment
- Enrollment in preschool does not guarantee TK placement
- Some documents may still need to be submitted in person after online submission
-
After the lottery process is complete, families are notified of their enrollment status.
Notifications include whether the student has been accepted, placed on a waitlist, or not selected due to space limitations. Additional instructions and next steps will be provided at that time.
