PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Welcome to Cali Calmécac Language Academy, a thriving Two-Way Dual Immersion Bilingual Charter School where students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a multicultural, bilingual environment which truly prepares them to become global citizens.

I am privileged and honored to receive the opportunity to lead a bilingual school with the focus on dual language acquisition, and the promotion of cross-cultural experiences to help students become bilingual, bi-literate, and global citizens of the world. This is who I am, this is how I grew as a person, educator, and as a linguistic learner. This position means much more than just a title or a job to me. This is my passion blooming after so many seeds planted with so much love on Cali grounds. Cali is not just a school to me, Cali represents family, wisdom, and the challenge that has guided me and has helped me develop as a stronger leader to serve, lead and empower  students, teachers, families and community to a best and unique  linguistic, cultural, academic, and social-emotional experience.

I am eager to collaborate with the best educators and families as we work together in shaping our kiddos and ourselves as bilingual/bicultural learners and leaders of the world, critical thinkers, creators and social-emotional change agents in a constantly challenging world where we live. I am thrilled to walk with all of you this journey not only as your leader, but as another Cali parent.

Three important goals for the upcoming 2023-24 school year are as follows:

  1. Bringing the passion, knowledge and wisdom of Cali Community back into our campus. Community engagement through diverse powerful events that would guide our Cali students’ educational experience. Our students need to feel back again their WHY behind learning in two worlds and find their passion and pride while doing so. We are all responsible for bringing back intentional and powerful experiences that will bring the answers that our students are looking for in their bilingual educational journey.
  2. Continuing to strengthen our Cali school social-emotional learning curriculum and support offered to our students to help them develop as global learners in a safe and nurtured environment. Continuing our Cali Culture & Climate work that we all started this year communicating clear campus expectations for learning and behavior, as well as nurturing a culture of engagement and support through the encouragement of continuous positive experiences on campus.
  3. Reinforcing and continuing our commitment to bilingualism, biliteracy, multiculturalism through authentic and engaging instructional curriculum and learning experiences. Our goal of becoming a BEGlad school.
