Air quality advisory

Posted Date: 09/19/23 (05:53 PM)

Dear WUSD Families:

Earlier today the County of Sonoma issued a health advisory for poor air quality relating to smoke drift from fires in the north of the state. This advisory calls for the potential for Sonoma County to experience “moderate” air quality tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 20.

As of now, we plan to evaluate air levels in the morning and check forecasts, and make a determination at that time as to whether or not to hold lunch/recess/other activities indoors. We will make the decision and let families know as soon as possible in the morning. We will be monitoring air quality throughout the day, and we may change the plan(s) based on changing conditions. We will also notify families if there are any changes to outdoor sports or practices planned for tomorrow after school.

As a reminder, WUSD follows the guidelines from the Sonoma County Office of Education which can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1R9ezfVUKLUkz-zeWHczo06beSXdRPGZQ/edit

We use https://fire.airnow.gov/ to track current smoke/air quality  levels.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your school site.

Sincerely,

Your District Admin Team
