Nursing services promote good physical and mental health as critical to a student’s ability to learn.
- Develop action plans for students with medical conditions (i.e.,allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures)
- Monitor immunization status, oral and physical examination requirements
- Input data on medical conditions in student file and commicate to district employees
- Screening students:
- Vision: Grades K, 2, 5, 8
- Hearing: Grades K, 2, 5, 8, 10
- Scoliosis: Grades 7 (girls), 8 (boys)
- Training:
- In-service for non-licensed employees who administer medication or provide first aid
- Universal precautions
- Health education topics: nutrition, medical emergencies
- Supervision of Health Assistants
- Employee Health – Tuberculosis Screening
- Ensure Public Health – infectious, contagious or communicable diseases
Nursing Services North County Consortium
- Preschool student home visits with School Psychologist and Special Education Teachers
- Attend Individual Education Meetings for students with medical needs
- Case management of students with significant medical needs
